Totally scary stuff

HOLY SHIT.

I can't believe I didn't post this last night when I found out. Maryland does not regulate tattooing.. AT. ALL. It is "Buyer Beware". How fucked up is that? In 1989 or 1990 they deregulated it. SO. I could tattoo off of my toilet with used needles and tubes and so long as the dept of health doesn't get SEVERAL complaints about me, I'm fine. How fucking scary is this??????? If I want to run my own tattoo shop, all I need is a business license.


SO. For me that is good news personally. But horrible horrible shit generally speaking. The school I'm learning at is exTREMEly clean. I'm telling you, the habits of being sterile and maintaining sterility in your shop are EASY. It's just practice so that it, like anything else, becomes 2nd nature. But it's so easy! And it's so funny- now I am hyper aware of everything I do. I dropped a paper towel the other day here at the house and thought "gotta throw that away". But it was a clean paper towel that I was just going to clean up some coffee I'd spilled.

Anyway. Pretty fucking scary, no? West bygod Virginia has super strict regulations. The freaking toothless redneck republican hillbillies have more sense than MD does. Scary.

SO. I may just totally redo my room at home as a shop area. And just work from there for the time being. It's always been animal free as I keep the door shut 24/7. I just need to clear out most of what's in there and set up. Yes I'm getting an autoclave (that's at LEAST $700 but an excellent investment, obviously). The disposable tubes I might do instead... they have a few at the shop, so I need to use them before I buy a shit load. I'm going to buy some though to have on hand for like, traveling or for those who would prefer that I use them instead.

Also, I'll do what Lisa does here and send in spore tests. Or rather I could ask my girlfriend Amy run my spore tests. She is the Director of a cancer research lab so I bet she could do that test for me monthly (it verifies your autoclave is running properly, killing everything).
